Behind the Scenes at My Urban Toddler

Preparing for the Holidays and Why We Do It

Twenty years ago, when I opened My Urban Toddler, I never imagined how much this little store would become part of my life and my family’s life.

As we head into another holiday season, I’ve been thinking a lot about why we do what we do. It’s not just about finding beautiful clothes or fun toys. It’s about helping families celebrate the moments that matter and making life a little easier along the way.

And lately, we’ve been very busy doing just that!

Making Gift Giving a Little Easier

I know how busy life gets. Between work, school, sports, family commitments, and everything else on the calendar, finding the perfect gift can sometimes feel like one more thing on an already very long to-do list.

That’s why we’ve been putting so much thought into our holiday gift guides this year.

We’re organizing our favorite finds by age, interest, and occasion so you can spend less time searching and more time enjoying the season.

We’re also introducing something I’m especially excited about: thoughtfully curated gift bundles.

Instead of simply putting a few products together, we’re carefully choosing books, activities, games, and toys that actually make sense together.

Some are designed to spark creativity, others encourage learning or family time, and some are simply meant to bring a whole lot of joy.

My goal is simple: I want you to feel confident that when you choose a gift from My Urban Toddler, we’ve already done much of the thinking for you.

Because sometimes the best gift we can give a busy parent is a little more time.

Thoughtful Products, Intentional Choices

One of my favorite parts of owning My Urban Toddler is working with the wonderful vendors and makers who bring our collections to life.

I’m constantly looking for products that offer something special, whether that’s exceptional quality, beautiful design, lasting value, or a little unexpected delight.

We ask questions. We look at materials. We think about how something will fit into a child’s everyday life and whether it’s something we would be excited to give to our own families.

After 20 years, I still get excited when I discover something new that I know our customers will love.

And I believe that thoughtful buying makes a difference.

Our shelves aren’t just filled with products. They’re filled with things we’ve chosen with real families in mind.

A Little Behind the Scenes

This week was a perfect example of how much goes on behind the scenes.

We had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of our Michigan bow sweatshirts. They arrived a day later than expected, and we knew customers were waiting for their orders.

As soon as the shipment came through the door, our team got right to work.

We unpacked, organized, prepared, and shipped all of those waiting orders that very same day.

It was a busy afternoon, but it was also a reminder of why the details matter.

Because those packages aren’t just transactions to us.

They might be a birthday surprise, a gift from a grandparent, a special game-day outfit, or something a child has been excited to wear.

And we know how much it matters that they arrive when you need them.

That’s the kind of care I want to be part of every My Urban Toddler experience.

Getting Out Into Our Community

Another thing I’m especially looking forward to this season is getting out into our community.

While we love connecting with customers online and shipping gifts across the country, there’s something wonderful about seeing families in person.

We’re planning a busy November filled with pop-ups, special events, and opportunities to celebrate the season together.

A Little Thank You

As I look ahead to the next few weeks, I know there will be plenty of boxes to unpack, gifts to wrap, events to prepare for, and probably a few unexpected surprises along the way.

But that’s part of what makes this season so special.

After 20 years, I’m still grateful that I get to do something I love, work with wonderful people, and be a small part of so many families’ celebrations.

Whether you’ve been shopping with us since the beginning or just discovered My Urban Toddler, thank you.

Thank you for supporting our small business, trusting us with your gifts, and allowing us to celebrate the milestones and the moments in between.

I hope we’ll see you at the store or one of our holiday events soon.

With love and gratitude,

Rosa
